Sources (a good
product with no fishy taste and lots of useful information):

NOTE:
Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are easily oxidized and can increase blood
levels of harmful lipid peroxides! You must take additional
antioxidant vitamins to avoid this: 2000 mg vitamin C & 1200 mg
vitamin E (see PDF on
advantage of natural vitamin E) per day have been
shown to protect even large doses of EFAs (up to 25 g/day)
from oxidation. Smaller amounts of EFAs would require
proportionally smaller doses of these vitamins. Mental illnesses
appear to cause oxidative stress, resulting in depletion of membrane
fatty acids. Thus, they are recommended even for individuals
not taking dietary EFA's. For information about the adverse
health consequences of trans (partially hydrogenated) fats, see
Dr. Mary
Enig's site.
